• Twelve isotopes of hassium are known so far, all of which are radioactive. The lightest of these isotopes have fleeting half-lives that last somewhere between milliseconds to seconds. However, the four heaviest isotopes (hassium-265, hassium-267, hassium-269, and hassium-277) probably have half-lives that last minutes to hours although none of these have been confirmed.

• Other theoreticians calculated the effects of subshell closings in other superheavy nuclei. • When a person becomes infected with gonorrhea during sexual intercourse, the bacteria releases a molecule called heptose phosphate into their genital tract. Their body recognizes the heptose phosphate as a threat, and sends white blood cells to try to combat it.

• In this study, we built a yeast strain that produces the sucrose invertase Suc2p upon illumination with light and tested the population growth dynamics and the benefits of cooperation in various artificially shaped landscapes of cooperators and cheaters. The OptoSuc2 strain indeed acts as a cooperating cell when illuminated but remains a cheater when kept in the dark because non-illuminated cells cannot metabolize sucrose and instead rely on the hexose produced by adjacent cooperating cells. We were, therefore, able to quantitatively explore the spatial metabolic interactions between cooperators and cheaters.

• AtSWEET4 coding sequence was cloned into vector pDR196, the resulting construct was introduced into yeast hexose transport mutant EBY.VW4000 strain41. The yeast transformants were first grown on selective synthetic complete medium (without uracil) with 2% maltose as the sole carbon source. Drop tests were used to assess the growth of transformed yeast in 2% glucose and 1% fructose solid SD media with a serial of dilutions (OD500 = 1, 10−1, 10−2, 10−3, 10−4). The transformants with empty vector was used as a negative control. All transformants were grown at 30 °C for 3 days.
